As a class, NSAIDS may be associated with gastrointestinal, kidney and liver side effects. These are usually mild, but may be serious. Pet owners should discontinue therapy and contact their veterinarian immediately if side effects occur. Evaluation for pre-existing conditions and regular monitoring are recommended for pets on any medication, including RIMADYL. Use with other NSAIDS or corticosteroids should be avoided. Rimadyl Chewable tablets are scored and contain 25 mg, 75 mg, or 100 mg of carprofen per tablet.

Please ensure the selected product and quantity are appropriate for your pet, as recommended by your veterinarian. For current availability, please refer to the product selection above.

Rimadyl Chewables should be administered as directed by your veterinarian. Please consult your veterinarian before making any changes or discontinuing the prescribed dosing schedule.

If a dose is missed, administer it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give more medication than prescribed or two doses at once. If you have questions about your pet’s prescribed dosing schedule (e.g., timing, interval), please contact your veterinarian.

Rimadyl should be given according to your veterinarian’s instructions. Your veterinarian will tell you what amount of Rimadyl is right for your dog and for how long it should be given.

Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. If you have difficulty giving the medication, contact your veterinarian. This medication should only be given to the pet for which it was prescribed. For long-term use, use the lowest dose needed to provide relief. Due to the palatable nature of Rimadyl chewable tablets, store out of reach of dogs in a secured location.

Store in a cool, dry place at a controlled room temperature (59°-86°F). Keep this and all other medications in a secure location out of the reach of children and animals.

Exposure to extreme temperatures, light, or moisture can affect the integrity and effectiveness of medications. Always store this medication properly (e.g., away from the bathroom, kitchen sink, or other damp places).

Carprofen is typically well tolerated in dogs, and side effects are considered uncommon. The most common side effects are mild gastrointestinal effects (e.g., vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation), a mild increase or decrease in appetite, and lethargy.

In rare cases, serious adverse effects including gastrointestinal ulceration and kidney or liver issues can develop.

Contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet has complete loss of appetite; extreme fatigue, weakness, or lack of coordination; seizures; extreme behavioral changes (e.g., aggression); significant changes in urinary habits or fluid intake; vomiting that is severe, appears bloody, or has a “coffee grounds” appearance; black, tarry, or bloody stools; skin issues, including lesions and itching; or if you notice yellowing of the skin, gums, or whites of the eyes.

Do not administer this medication to animals with a known or suspected allergy/hypersensitivity to any NSAID, including carprofen, or to any other ingredient in the formulation. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Please inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known sensitivities or allergies, especially to medications and supplements.

If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue therapy and call your veterinarian immediately or seek emergency veterinary attention. Symptoms may include (but are not limited to): swollen lips, tongue, face, or airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; and widespread hives or itching.

The following drugs* may have potential interactions with this medication: anticoagulants (e.g., heparins, rivaroxaban, warfarin), antidiabetic agents (including insulins), beta blockers (e.g., atenolol, sotalol), bisphosphonates (e.g., alendronate), blood pressure medications (e.g., enalapril, sildenafil, telmisartan), calcium channel blockers (e.g., amlodipine, diltiazem), clopidogrel, corticosteroids (e.g., dexamethasone, prednisone), cyclosporine, digoxin, diuretics (e.g., furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide, spironolactone), fluoroquinolone antibiotics (e.g., ciprofloxacin), methotrexate, concurrent NSAIDs, pentoxifylline, salicylates (e.g., aspirin, bismuth subsalicylate), SSRIs (e.g., fluoxetine, sertraline), toceranib (Palladia), and tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline, clomipramine).

Please ensure your veterinarian is aware of all medications, supplements, and over-the-counter (OTC) products that your pet is currently using. Your veterinarian may prescribe multiple medications, even if a potential drug interaction may occur. In these instances, your veterinarian may adjust the dosages or monitor your pet more closely.
