Advantage Multi® Topical Solution for Cats

Advantage Multi for Cats is indicated for the prevention of heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis. Advantage Multi for Cats kills adult fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) and is indicated for the treatment of flea infestations. Advantage Multi for Cats is also indicated for the treatment and control of ear mite (Otodectes cynotis) infestations and the following intestinal parasites: Ancylostoma tubaeforme and Toxocara cati.

FERRETS: Use only the 0.4 mL Advantage Multi for Cats in ferrets. The 0.23 mL size does not provide an effective dose and the 0.8 mL size could result in an overdose.

CAUTION: Federal (U.S.A.) law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. WARNINGS: Do not use on sick or debilitated cats or ferrets. Do not use on underweight cats. (see ADVERSE REACTIONS section of product label). Do not use on cats less than 9 weeks of age and cats or ferrets less than 2 lbs body weight. PRECAUTIONS: Avoid oral ingestion. HUMAN WARNINGS: Children should not come in contact with the application site for 30 minutes following application. See product label for more information.

Over 18 lbs.	Cats over 18 lbs. should be treated with the appropriate combination of Advantage Multi for Cats tubes to cover the animal’s full body weight.

Advantage Multi for Cats should be administered topically as directed by your veterinarian. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water after handling. Please consult your veterinarian before making any changes or discontinuing the prescribed dosing schedule.

For prevention of heartworm disease, Advantage Multi for Cats should be administered at one-month intervals. If a dose is missed and a 30-day interval between doses is exceeded, administer Advantage Multi for Cats immediately and resume the monthly dosing schedule.

Do not administer more medication than prescribed or two doses at once.

If multiple doses have been missed, consult your veterinarian prior to restarting the monthly dosing schedule. If you have questions about your pet’s prescribed dosing schedule (e.g., timing, interval), please contact your veterinarian.

Advantage Multi for Cats is a topical solution. See steps below for how to apply.

Step 1: Remove one dose applicator tube from the package. While holding the tube in an upright position, remove the cap from the tube.

Step 2: Turn the cap over and push the other end of the cap onto the tip of the tube. Twist the cap to break the seal, and then remove the cap from the tube.

Step 3: Part the hair on the back of the cat’s neck at the base of the head until the skin is visible.

Step 4: Place the tip of the tube on the skin and apply the entire contents directly on the exposed skin. Lift the tube away from the skin before releasing pressure on the tube.

Do not get this product in the cat's mouth or eyes or allow the cat to lick the application site for 30 minutes. Treatment at the base of the head will minimize the opportunity for ingestion by grooming. In households with multiple pets, keep animals separated to prevent licking of the application site.

Store in a cool, dry place at a controlled temperature between 39 °F and 77 °F, avoiding excess heat or cold. Keep this and all other medications in a secure location out of the reach of children and animals. Tubes should remain sealed in their original packaging and should only be taken out at the time of dosing.

Exposure to extreme temperatures, light, or moisture can affect the integrity and effectiveness of medications. Always store medications properly (e.g., away from the bathroom, kitchen sink, or other damp places).

Stiff, matted hair or a damp, oily appearance of the hair may be observed at the application site on some cats. This is temporary and does not affect the safety and effectiveness of the product.

The following side effects have been reported with use in cats and are listed in decreasing order of reporting frequency: hypersalivation, depression/lethargy, application site reactions (alopecia, pruritus, lesions, and erythema), decreased appetite, vomiting, hyperactivity, ataxia, trembling, and behavior disorder (hiding).

In ferrets, reported side effects following treatment with this medication include pruritus/scratching, scabbing, redness, wounds and inflammation at the treatment site; lethargy; and chemical odor.

Not for human use. Keep out of the reach of children and animals.

Causes eye irritation. Harmful if swallowed. Do not get in eyes or on clothing. Avoid contact with skin. Exposure to the product has been reported to cause headache; dizziness; and redness, burning, tingling, or numbness of the skin.

If contact with eyes occurs, hold eyelids open and flush with copious amounts of water for 15 minutes. If eye irritation develops or persists, contact a physician. If swallowed, call poison control center or physician immediately for treatment advice.

People with known hypersensitivity to benzyl alcohol, imidacloprid or moxidectin should administer the product with caution. In case of allergic reaction, contact a physician.

Do not apply to irritated skin.

Avoid oral ingestion. Cats may experience hypersalivation, tremors, vomiting and decreased appetite if Advantage Multi for Cats is inadvertently administered orally or through grooming/licking of the application site.

The safety of Advantage Multi for Cats has not been established in breeding, pregnant, or lactating cats.

The effectiveness of Advantage Multi for Cats against heartworm infections (D. immitis) after bathing has not been evaluated in cats.

Do not administer this medication to animals with a known or suspected allergy/hypersensitivity to it or any of its ingredients. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Please inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known sensitivities or allergies, especially to medications and supplements.

If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue therapy and call your veterinarian immediately or seek emergency veterinary attention. Symptoms may include (but are not limited to): swollen lips, tongue, face, or airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; and widespread hives or itching.

While there are no documented drug or food interactions with this medication when given at the recommended dosage, potential interactions may still be possible. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when multiple medications and/or supplements are given together.

Please ensure your veterinarian is aware of all medications, supplements, and over-the-counter (OTC) products that your pet is currently using. Your veterinarian may prescribe multiple medications, even if a potential drug interaction may occur. In these instances, your veterinarian may adjust the dosages or monitor your pet more closely.
